Announcing new Professional Services dental director

We are pleased to welcome John Yamamoto, DDS, MPH, as the new dental director of Professional Services. Dr. Yamamoto will oversee quality assessment and professional claims review, manage our scientific research to drive future innovations, ensure compliance with state regulatory requirements and lend his expertise on dental policy issues for our enterprise area that includes 15 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Previously, Dr. Yamamoto spent six years with the UCLA School of Dentistry, where he worked as both an adjunct assistant professor and as the director of the Venice Dental Clinic. While at UCLA, Dr. Yamamoto focused on providing and teaching community-oriented dental care, serving southern California’s low-income families and developing programs to increase access to dental care for indigent populations. His research has been widely published in some of the profession’s leading dental and academic journals. Dr. Yamamoto also served for five years as a dental consultant to the California Department of Managed Health Care.
